Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the Graphic Design role with M+R. I’m an idealistic, creative designer, obsessed with all things digital. I’m an independent worker and strong leader, but at my core, I’m a team player, thriving in an environment where I work with others towards a common goal. My wide range of experience, skill, work ethic, and passion to create positive social change make me an ideal member for your team. I can create graphics for digital and print use, code in html and css, edit videos, manage social media, photograph, and much more. I want to be a part of M+R’s team because I am certain that I have the ability, creativity, and leadership to be a positive team player to further M+R’s success and contributions in creating winning designs for campaigns, whether it's for a non-profit or a business. Please see my website, meghanjordan7.com for more examples of my diverse background.
I have spent the last two months working at the Democratic Volunteer Center (DVC) in Mountain View (CA) as a designer and strategist for the Marketing and Communication team, helping aid Democrats and the democratic issues up and down the ticket. I have created a large amount of print material to help GOTV and educate local voters. I aided in a total website redesign while taking over the DVC’s social media accounts to help reach out to young and latino voters, tripling the number of twitter and Instagram followers within a week. I spearheaded an office redesign which included designing signage, painting walls, and creating a photo booth to excite volunteers. Our efforts drew in almost 250 guests for the final debate watch party, including 17 of the 20 local candidates, a New York Times photographer, and other media outlets. While working for the DVC I have also been working on contract projects for companies and individuals in the bay area - designing everything from logos to digital graphics to white papers. I also currently have an ongoing role with Streamlinevents, working on a wide variety of graphic design projects.
For most of 2015 and 2016 I worked as a Design Communicator at TiVo on the User Experience team. I worked with a cross functional team that included visual designers, interaction designers, developers, and communicators. As a design communicator, my job was to understand the designs and products inside and out; to work with designers to create user friendly experiences, while helping engineers create the products. This position gave me insight to corporate user experience design and sharpened my skills.
Prior to TiVo, I spent a year as redesigning and rebranding the UC Davis Center for Regional Change. I designed and coded multiple websites from the ground up with minimal supervision. I also created marketing campaigns for the department and managed their social media, exponentially increasing their digital presence.
Bottom line: M+R has something good going on, and I want to be a part of it. I’m a fearless competitor, ready to bring my passion to M+R’s campaigns. As an idealistic creative I will be the perfect fit for this role.
